Angiogenesis Skin Therapies
Angiogenesis-based therapies for the skin diseases include both angiogenesis inhibitors and angiogenesis stimulating drugs:
- Antiangiogenic drugs are being developed to inhibit new blood vessel
growth in cutaneous malignancies and psoriasis. A number of angiogenic
skin conditions, such as rosacea and psoriasis, are already being treated
with drugs known to be angiogenesis inhibitors (minocycline, vitamin
D3 analogs).
- Angiogenesis-stimulating drugs (growth factor peptides ) and devices (bioengineered living skin equivalents) are being developed to promote new blood vessel growth to accelerate wound healing.
